A New Pedestrian Bridge Is Coming to The District at Green Valley Ranch
The District at Green Valley Ranch is building a Pedestrian Bridge over Green Valley Parkway at Village Walk Drive. This will connect the east and west halves of The District Shopping Center. The project is part of the $160 million I-215 Beltway Widening Project.
The Bridge will provide a safer, grade-separated route for pedestrians and cyclists, while also connecting the continuous path of the 215 Beltway Trail. It will eliminate the need for pedestrians to wait at street level signal cycles at the busy intersection, helping reduce vehicle backups near the shopping center and Lee's Family Forum arena.
Concrete support columns are standing on both sides of Green Valley Parkway just south of the 215 Beltway, as part of a project that is nearly 50% complete. The main bridge structure is scheduled to be set in place during overnight full closures in March or April 2027. The wider I-215 expansion and interchange work are scheduled to run through 2028.
As someone that frequently walks in this area, I’m looking forward to having an easier way to cross Green Valley Parkway. This intersection is often busy, and crossing it can be challenging. The new bridge should make getting from one side of The District to the other more convenient while providing an important added safety benefit for pedestrians and cyclists.
It’s exciting to see improvements like this taking shape in our area. For those of us who enjoy walking to restaurants, shopping, and entertainment, better connections between destinations can make a real difference in how we experience Green Valley.
