How Much Did You Say?
Here is a number that boggles my mind. The houses in the United States are worth a combined value of $55 trillion.
That 55 would have 12 zeros behind it if I were to type it out. Yes, I had to look that up.
I had no idea what the number would look like. Really, I still don't. Of that amount $48.7 trillion are owner occupied. That made me feel pretty good. The numbers are huge, yet, if you can't sell your home in zip code 89074, or anywhere else for that matter, then what happens?
Lots, really. You could do the remodeling to update your home instead of moving to another. You could make changes to make it easier to age in place. If it makes sense, you can sell, take the equity and buy in another location where you might not need to take out a loan or would only need a small one.
Think monthly payment rather than interest rate. Do what fits best with your current situation. One thing you don't need to do is feel trapped in a house that doesn't fit your lifestyle anymore. There are as many solutions as there are questions. It's not just numbers, despite how I started this thought.
Think outside the box - or house. 🤩
